My Kiss Pitch Wish List

ROMANCE. Kissing books. Spicy books. Sexy books. Sometimes even sweet books. HEA will be a requirement. I’m not looking to break my own heart here, okay?

Please read carefully. My trad and indie lists are not so subtly different. For Trad, I will only consider Adult titles, but for indie, I will consider both Adult and NA. #ownvoices very, very welcome.

IF TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING IS YOUR GOAL

I will be looking for unique concepts, solid writing, and a good voice. Adult only.

For contemporary: I love rom-coms. I love angst. I love queer stories.

Favorite tropes include:

— forbidden romance

— enemies to lovers

— friends to lovers

— workplace romance

— forced proximity

— fake dating/ marriage of convenience

— hot mess heroines

— brooding, broken heroes (alpha, beta, cinnamon roll, whatever)

— opposites attract

Less appealing tropes, but I will still consider:

— second chance

— grumpy/ sunshine

— small town

I may not be the best person for:

— Sci-fi

— Paranormal

— Cowboys

— Fantasy / Romantasy (despite my love for some of these books, world-building is not my strong suit)

However, last Kiss Pitch, the book I threw down to get had a merman in it, so you never know with me unless you try!

I will NOT consider:

— books containing terminal illness as a central plot point (it’s just a trigger for me)

— Books that take place during wars

— Secret babies

—Inspirational or religious romance (unless it’s like Priest by Sierra Simone, then we can chat)

If your book contains an element you feel may be controversial, just ask. I’m pretty open-minded.

IF SELF-PUBLISHING OR HYBRID IS YOUR GOAL

A lot of the above will still apply, but I don’t need fancy high concepts here. Adult and NA!

Successful self-publishing can rely a lot on the ability to craft a series. Therefore what I’ll be looking for is:

— Series potential (not required, but a definite plus)

— Darker themes are totally fine, even taboo

— High steam preferred but not necessary. Still… I mean…

— Kink is a-ok

— Queer is chef’s kiss; boys kissing boys is my catnip

— ANGST. I LOVE ANGST. All the angst. Make me hurt!

— Contemporary or historical (still no wars, though, please)

I may not be the best fit for:

—paranormal, sci-fi, omegaverse (like at all)

*however, if the world building is limited and the concept and characters are hot, I’ll for sure take a look

I am the ultimate best fit for angsty, erotic romance though, so if it happens to have an alien, demon, or witch, I’m not going to be too mad about it. Make it gay, and I’m here for it.

THIS LIST IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. AND IT IS NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE OR INFLEXIBLE.

If any of this sounds like your book, check out what I can offer in the next post!
